In 1Pt. 4:17 it says: "For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; if it begins with us, what will be the end for those who do not obey the gospel of God?" (1Pe 4:17 NRSV)
I realise that "has come" was added by the translators. I also realise that in essence the context shows us that Peter is referring to the Day of God's Judgment (eschatological).
However, it appears that he is speaking of judgement here as though it had already commenced during his time and is thus ongoing, and will reach its culminating point on the Day of God's wrath.
Am I correct in believing that Peter is speaking of this judgment as though it had already begun? In other words, is Peter speaking of a certain phase of God's judgment that is now in progress?
Thanks...
