Dear Friends --

We could say that the Greek grammar here more than supports a distinction in persons.

Why would this be treated any differently from the several NT references to Jesus as hUIOS TOU THEOU, which was clearly understood as isotheistic by both his friends and his enemies? Especially his enemies....

Obliquely, then, we can infer that hO PATER = THEOS in the NT, hO CRISTOS = hUIOS TOU THEOU, and then we have TO PNEUMA TO hAGION = PNEUMA (TOU) THEOU -- three distinct persons, only the first of whom is spoken of as THEOS who generates the hUIOS and from whom the PNEUMA comes forth (gospel of John, _passim_).

Jesus as hUIOS TOU ANQRWPOU is another matter, but the grammatical relationships (and their implications, _mutatis mutandis_) are the same.

CRISTOS ANESTH!
