[B-Greek] Teaching mi verbs first

My first year Greek teacher introduced -mi verbs near the beginning of first semester, right after introducing prepositions. So we got compound verbs, "-mi" verbs and "contraction" right off the bat. I can't really say that I learned -mi verbs with that lesson. Perhpas the strength of introducing them early is the power unleashed in repetition. However, once "introduced" you need to supplement every verb lesson with the -mi paradigm verbs if you really want to be helpful. Throwing them in at the last like Mounce--"Oh, By the way, there are these things called -mi verbs. They are squirly little things that ocurr on every page of the New Testament, even though there are so few of them."--is like quite faint. My Question would be, do they ocur enough in his excercises for the extra early lesson and lesson supplements to begin to take?

Subject: [B-Greek] Teaching mi verbs first

Hello! Deus Volente, I will be teaching a first year Greek class at our church this Fall, using Mounce's Basics of BIblical Greek. I have been advised by my teacher and mentor, Dr. Glen Riddle, that it would be wise to teach mi verbs first instead of omega verbs, because mi verbs occur all over the New Testament, and because mi verbs are often an afterthought in the teaching of first year Greek.

The problem is paedogogy, finding appropriate exercises to teach mi verbs that don't presuppose omega verbs and other moods having been taught first. Mounce teaches mi verbs last, and his exercises are rife with things taught in the previous chapters.

Two questions. First, what does the group think about this approach? Second, what exercises and sources would you recommend should I decide to go ahead and try to teach mi verbs first?

Blessings!
