In 1 Jn 4.13 the EK is a partitive usage -- we are given A PORTION from the Spirit. It is therefore this portion which is the understood object of the verb.

Subject: [B-Greek] 1Jn 4:13 Looking for the object for the verb

1Jn 4:13

EN TOUTW GINWSKOMEN
hOTI EN AUTW MENOMEN KAI AUTOS EN hHMIN
hOTI EK TOU PNEUMATOS AUTOU DEDWKEN hHMIN

I am looking for the object of the verb DEDWKEN on the last line. Why
some English translations take PNEUMATOS as its object when it is part
of a phrase EK ~?

Thank for your help.

Oun Kwon.
