Hi Folks,
Judges 13:5 (KJB)
For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son;
and no razor shall come on his head:
for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb:
and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
I recently ran into a writer that claims that the Greek of Judges 13:5 -
Judges 13:5
idou su en gastri exeis kai texh uion (2nd sng)
(I am using his transcription)
"it should be understood as 'behold, you are pregnant'
There is no reason to believe that Judges 13:5 should represent a future."
Any Greek ideas can be shared here.
I haven't checked, but this is likely the Vaticanus reading ?
So I dunno if there are variants of significance (e.g Bzyantine vs. Vaticanus).
And if folks would like to share about the Hebrew, Aramaic or Latin of the
verse, especially the Hebrew harah, email me and we could do that in
an appropriate forum.
Thanks.
Shalom,
