Thanks for the heads up about that. The reading you refer to seems to be the
genesis of the variant CARAN. It's either a coincidence that he wanted to
give them a second chance of grace (as in CARIS), or his plan was to do a
two-phase visit, or you are correct. I'll have to look at that carefully.

HH: The text makes perfect sense with the standard translation if you
add the next verse:
2Cor. 1:15 Since I was sure of this, I wanted to come to you first, so
that you might have a double favor;
2Cor. 1:16 I wanted to visit you on my way to Macedonia, and to come
back to you from Macedonia and have you send me on to Judea.
HH: The double favor was spending time with Paul twice. This was Paul's
original plan, which he did not carry out because of things that came
up, but verses 15-16 are describing the original plan.
