So you are thinking of the view of a Roman theater one
would have from the top of the stage building, whereas
I am comparing the hIEROU to the Roman proscenium. I
hadn't thought of it that way before. Since the upper
city is actually higher than the Temple Mount in
elevation, and one could look down into the Temple
area from the Hasmonean palace (Ant., 20.190), I had
in mind Diodorus' description of Perinthus with its
homes stacked up against the slope of the hill:
