Hebrews 6:6
KAI PARAPESONTAS PALIN ANAKAINIZEIN EIS METANOIAN ANASTAUROUNTAS hEAUTOIS TON hUION TOU QEOU KAI PARADEIGMATIZONTAS 
Yes, the last two participles there can be viewed as either temporal (while) or causal (since, because) either view is acceptable grammatically.  
And your second question can only be answered by context which is dealt with over on bib exegesis.
