What Elizabeth and I were discussiong was the fact that in the Critical Text (as opposed to the Byz Maj text) it says THS QUGATHR AUTOU (where the Byz has AUTHS to harmonize with the other verses such as 6.24 where it is indicated that she went MHTRI AUTHS (referencing Herodias who was Philip's wife). There are a few Mss which attempt to harmonize this by reading in 6.22 QUGATHR AUTHS, but the support is weak. It is thus not simply a matter of punctuation in an English translation.

Dear Friends --
>From this line, it's clear that Herodias was Herod's wife, not his daughter.
Herod was Salome's *legal* father, although he was actually her uncle.
A bit of punctuation in a simple English translation might make it easier to get this verse, which says something like: 'when his daughter (Herodias's) came in and danced....'
Hope this helps a little!
Peace and blessings to all.
