The teacher who instilled a love of both Greek and Latin was Prof. Victor
Bartling, the same man who Dr. Fred Danker credits with his love for the
classical and koine Greek at Concordia College, Milwaukee, WI.. "Vic" was
not a flashy teacher, but he exerted a profound influence on many of his
students. William J. Hassold, formerly professor at Concordia Lutheran
College, Ann Arbor, MI.
