To Biblical Greek people Robert W. "Bob" Funk is the "F" of BDF, who
brought the classic German NT Grammar of Blass and Debrunner into
English. To many who know him in no other guise, he was the the
founder and sponsor of Westar Institute and the noted or notorious
(depending upon your viewpoint) Jesus Seminar. For the past couple of
years several B-Greek members have worked on bringing the long out-of-
print 1977 edition of his "Beginning-Intermediate Grammar of
Hellenistic Greek" into a web-worthy version. Unless I am mistaken,
he was also the original founder of the Society of Biblical
Literature (SBL). He and Westar Institute had also sponsored a
project to prepare a new large-scale grammar of Hellenistic Greek, a
project that unfortunately did not come to its much desired fruition.
He died in September of 2005.
