I can read simple Greek without translating (but there is not that much
Greek that seems simple to me.)
Anyway; About particles, I find them difficult. It has helped me to realize
that Dutch, my native tongue, has more particles than English, yet I have
trouble "feeling" a meaning when I come across PER or GE etc.
One more point:
Reading the anecdote about C.S. Lewis; The teacher first read 20 or so
lines in Greek, then 100 lines in English. He then challenged Lewis to
carry on.
Does that imply that we should read an English translation before trying the
Greek or did this professor read the English just to get the student(s)
interested?
