[B-Greek] Colossians 4:2 - article

How about

"Now I lay me down to sleep …" ?

Seriously, I don't think any particular prayer is in view. It is not unusual to use the article in a number of instances where we would not in English. There is a convention, however, of using the article to indicate a specific item which has been previously mentioned or which would be well-known to the reader. I think what is in view is simply the practice of prayer.

Hello all,

Colossians 4:2 - THi PROSEUCHi PROSKARTEREITE...

Is there any special "prayer" to which Paul is referring by using the
article, rather than "devotes yourselves to prayer" generally? The context,
seems to allow for something since he continued

...GRHGOPOUNTES IN AUTHi EN EUCARISTIAi, PROSEUCOMENOI hAMA KAI PERI
hHMWN...

"...being alert in it in thanksgiving, praying at the same time also
concerning you..."

But there is nothing in context that specifies *which* prayer - just *the*
prayer.

Thanks

Daniel
