[B-Greek] 1 John 3:3 - Antecedent of AUTW?

It seems to me that AUTW refers to the believer,
because later in that verse when John wants to refer
to Christ he uses EKEINOS.
I am on the road today and cannot consult references,
but I recall in studying that passage looking at the
use of EKEINOS there being, at least in part, to
signify a different antecedent than AUTW.
I'm just going on memory here, so I might be way off.
