Others with more expertise in Greek will have other comments, but I have
this to contribute:
"I know one thing: I'm a blind man, but now I [can] see!"
The TUFLOS WN states the man's lifelong identity more than talking about a
condition conceived of as in the past.

hEN OIDA, hOTI TUFLOS WN ARTI BLEPW
Why the Present WN next to the Adverb ARTI? (...being,
I now...) Did Greek have a Secondary Tense EIMI
participle? (I partly understand that Participles do
not grammaticalize time, but this still seems like a
strange usage.)
