[B-Greek] translating and grammatical analysis

I was reading an article by D.A. Carson that deals with the verb LOGIZOMAI, and noticed something I've seen before. He frequently defined the the verb but never translated the sentence, a "final product," to show how that meaning would make sense in a certain context. Sorry that my example is on such a sensitive topic, but try to look past that. It's like an architect talking about his ideas for a wall without putting his ideas in place to see if it would work, or how it would look. Is this a commonly known error? Does it have a name?(even if you disagree with my example.)

  Thanks,
  John C. Wilking
