Is there any possibility that TI MELLEIS POIEIN (Acts 22:26) means, “What do
you want to do?”, rather than “What are you about to do?”? In other words,
is it possible to take the exchange as meaning not that the centurion comes
up to the chiliarch in a panic, but that he comes up to him asking for any
change in orders, given the new information that the person is a Roman
citizen?
