[B-Greek] Why a noun and not an adjective?

Why can't ALABASTROS be considered an adjective? Whenever Bauer lists a noun
like this as having all three genders , I get suspicious. Especially when it
seems to work fine as an adjective the 3 places it is used in the New
Testament. It simply modifies an unknown neuter thing, i.e. a box. So why
isn't it simply listed as an adjective?
