DIA with the genitive of the person denotes the personal agent, 
according to BAGD under DIA III, 2a: "through (the agency of), by." They 
mention about John 1:3: "Christ as intermediary in the creation of the 
world."

Also see John 1:10; 1 Cor 8:6; Col 1:16

The last one is interesting because it also uses EN of Christ in the 
same context of creation.
