Yes, I had in mind Wahrig _Das grosse deutsche Wörterbuch_ (recommended for reading German).

In one sense BDAG have translations because it is
Greek-ENGLISH. But in a technical sense, BDAG also has
definitions. A definition is different from a 'gloss'/'translation'.
E.g.,
NAOS may be glossed 'temple' in English,
but it could be DEFiNED as "a building dedicated to the religous
service of a deity, often maintained by a priesthood."
Or some such.
But Carl was also talking about a French-French dictionary.
Probably because you mentioned "Webster" which is
normally taken to rrefer to an English-English US dictionary.
E.g., In my hand I have Le Robert microPoche. Dictionnaire de
la langue francaise. No English. Relatively complete for my
needs, 1376pp.
Larousse has several editions of "French-French"
dictionaries though my only Larousse publication happens
to be an Arabe-Francais.
I'd love to have LEKSIKON THS KOINHS GLWSSHS
"ELLHNIKH-ELLHNIKH". This does not currently exist.
in several respects it's a different ballgame from BDAG.
