Hi all, I'm working my way for the 1st time through 1 John, reading in Greek
and translating on the spot, IT IS FUN! I know you all kept telling me to
read, read, read. But I didn't know enough. Mounce said when you know the 325
words he gives, you'll know 4 out of 5 words, but it never seemed that way.
When I got another 325 words down (20 and above frequency( that when I really
knew 8 to 9 out of most words I came across, that was the breakthrough. I'm up
to 700 words in vocab now, and started Steven Baugh's 1 John reader to help
me, I'm also using Martin Curl's handbook to help. I start 1 John chapter 2
today. What a joy this is, and you REALLY do get more understanding, by just by
reading it, of what the sentences mean, perfect, continual, aorist & so on.
My question is what is the list from the easier to the more harder books to
read in the NT, and be able to translate on the spot? Also, is there a list
like this for the Septuagint, or at least a place to start?
I can't wait to get more & more down. I must say, this is about the hardest
thing I've ever done before, I spend at least an hour a day or 2 doing my
homework and now translating, but well worth it. I'm going to try to get down to
1100 words in my vocab 10 and above frequency, Lord willing.
I only went to the 8th grade in formal schooling.
To God be the glory for renewing my mind.
This list is a great blessing, thank you all.

Grace and peace
Jim Montesano
