Dr. Tov has produced a word for word parallel for us, I am not sure
off-hand which Old Testament Greek version it is based on, but is this a
useful bridge between the languages for helping us understand the NT Greek?
Do we have a good idea of what the first century text actually looked
like? Were the translations we now have (RECEIVED) actually PRODUCED
after the first century, and even if they are bound to match in many
cases, is it fair to identify them with the first century text used by
the writers of the NT? In other words, how sure are we of the continuity
and can we say to what degree they are continuous.
How does the Greek OT used by the Orthodox Church today compare with the
critical editions we have?
Has anyone produced a new translation of the Hebrew into Greek of the OT
recently or has there been any since the fifth century?
In Christ,
Ross Purdy
