Dear James,
Yes the date is right (1999), yet the description is somewhat
misleading.
The title page of 1999 says:
Susanna Daniel Bel et Draco
edidit Joseph Ziegler
Editio secunda/
Versiones iuxta LXX interpretes textum plane novem constituit
Olivier Munnich
Versiones iuxta "Theodotionem" fragmenta adiecit/
Detlef Fraenkel
So yes Ziegler did the first edition (including both LXX [Old Greek)
and Theodotion (1954). However, not all of 967 was available to Ziegler.
Therefore, in the second edition Munnich included the rest of 967
that had since appeared, took Ziegler's OG text and REWORKED it in
the process of adding the further evidence from 967.
Munnich, while reworking OG did NOT touch Theodotion.
Detlef Fraenkel added Ziegler's text of Theodotion to Munnich's
reworked text of Ziegler's OG.
So which edition is Munnich/Fraenkel's? The second edition,
according to the title page. Why Eisenbrauns calls it the third I do
not know.
So who is the REAL editor? De iure, of the OG no doubt Ziegler, de
facto Munnich.
As for Theodotion? Again de iure Zigler, but sort of de facto Detlef
Fraenkel.
Confusing? You bet! I would suggest a more descriptive entry by
Eisenbrauns. Munnich's name must be mentioned somewhere somehow.
