MATT. 10:28 KAI MH FOBEISQE APO TWN APOKTENNONTWN TO SWMA, THN DE
YUCHN MH DUNAMENWN APOKTEINAI: FOBEISQE DE MALLON TON DUNAMENON KAI
YUCHN KAI SWMA APOLESAI EN GEENNHi.

This particular use of APOLLYMI is worthy of note since the implied
agent appears? to be hO QEOS. L.Morris (Matt. Pillar) mentions
"Bruce" [F.F.BRUCE ?] as a proponent of a different view on this but
gives no citation.

The association of this verb with the deity APOLLO is found in Aesch.
Agamemnon

1076 OTOTOTOTOI POPOI DA.
1077 WPOLLON WPOLLON.
1078 hHD' AUTE DUSFHMOUSA TON QEON KALEI
1079 OUDEN PROSHKONT' EN GOOIS PARASTATEIN.

1079 -
1080 APOLLON: APOLLON:
1081 AGUIAT, APOLLWN EMOS.
1082 APWLESAS GAR OU MOLIS TO DEUTERON.
1083 CRHSEIN EOIKEN AMFI TWN hAUTHS KAKWN.
1084 MENEI TO QEION DOULIAi PER EN FRENI.
1085 APOLLON: APOLLON:
1086 AGUIAT, APOLLWN EMOS.
1087 A POI POT' HGAGES ME; PROS POIAN STEGHN;

In the Apocalypse of John we find another deity of similar name
APOLLUWN as a greek translation of hEBRAISTI ABADDWN.

RE. 9:11 ECOUSIN EP' AUTWN BASILEA TON AGGELON THS ABUSSOU, ONOMA
AUTWi hEBRAISTI ABADDWN, KAI EN THi hELLHNIKHi ONOMA ECEI APOLLUWN.

I am not making any particular point or drawing any conclusion. Just
mentioning some associations that are called to mind by Matthew's use
of APOLLYMI in Matt 10:28.
