"necessarily"? We do know (don't we?) that one of those who said, "The
time has come" was the walrus who walked with the carpenter. I don't
know that there's any definitive answer to a question like this. My
read on it is that there will be lots of people issuing apocalyptic
announcements of this sort, not that they all will make precisely
these pronouncements.
