Fellows,

I'd like to hear what the group has to say about the following phrase from 2 John 8, "MISQON PLHRH". From the immediate context of verses 7 and 9, the overall tone and subject of the leter and the urgent nature of the given the letter's terseness, it appears that the "MISQON PLHRH" is the salvation of the believers as opposed to some other reward. The phrase, "MISQON PLHRH" according to BDAG does not appear in the NT anywhere else, but in the LLX in Ruth once. It appears in the papyri as a "total sum". In the context of 2 John 8, I think the author, has in mind a "full wage" i.e. what you are payed at the end of the day, see Matt 20:8. This would fit well with the overall context of the letter and the immediate contect of verses 7 and 9. Thoughts? Is there any room to make "MISQON PLHRH" refer to a reward outside salvation?

Thanks,

Steve
