Yes, it definitely grates on the ears. It should properly be "between you and me." One would not say "between we" but rather "between us." Similarly the nominative "I" should not be used but rather the objective "me."

Does "between you and I" sound odd to anyone else? It sounds completely
normal to most people i hear today, including most preachers, but it still
sounds odd to me.
