Simplified one could say that the UBS editions where a
stepwise convergence to the Nestle-Aland 26th ed., coming
from Westcott-Hort.

There is the interesting question if we still need the UBS
GNT in its current form, if we have a NA with the same text?

Originally the UBS GNT was intended for translators. But is
it really helpful for a translator to know that minuscule
1010 supports a certain reading? Also, some important
readings are not included, whereas some real minutiae are
covered.
Do you think it is still needed or is something else perhaps
better?

Also, currently there is no committee anymore. The text is
controlled completely by Muenster. They do a good job, but
there is also a monopoly. Is this a good thing?

What do you think?

Best wishes
    Wieland
