I went to Best Buy and picked out a Palm Zire 72s. My choice was somewhat arbitrary--I'm certainly not a pda expert.
My main use of the pda is for appointments. It also has an electronic scratch pad which I find handy. And I downloaded a scientific calculator which I use occasionally. IOW I'm just a "basics" user. Other people put all kinds of things on their pda's, including global positioning software.
The major selling point to me is that a pda is pocket-sized, so it's easy to take along everywhere. I always have mine with me.
Back to the topic: I found some free software from Olive Tree on the internet which I downloaded to the pda. The software includes a simple English translation called "God's Word," a Vulgate OT/NT, and a Greek NT (Byzantine text).
This is just for casual use. I can read. I can search for verses and for English words. I can't search on Greek or Latin. I have no Septuagint and I have no Hebrew at all.
I'd expect that the paid-versions from Olive Tree are MUCH better than the primitive free versions I have.
Of course on my pc I have BibleWorks which has far more capability then I could ever use.

Here are some sites for PDA academic bible-software:

This site says Bibleworks is not pursuing a pda version at this time:

I have some bible software on my pda, and it's handy because I always have
my pda with me.

Greetings b-greek folk --
I would like to buy some sort of hand-held gadget that would enable me
to search a Greek (and ideally Hebrew as well) concordance of the LXX/NT
e.g. when I'm in a Bible Study group and someone asks where else a
particular word is used. I don't need parsing or a complete set of
reference tools, but a brief gloss of the word along with its
occurrences in Greek and English would be nice.
Last evening we were talking about "blessed are the meek" and I looked
up PRAEIS in my GNT with Dictionary, and dimly recalled that it's not a
very common word, but would have loved to have at least been able to
come up with the 3 or so other NT places it occurs. I wouldn't want to
start lugging a laptop to a discussion group. Or several thick volumes
of printed concordances.
Any suggestions? I'm a long-time BibleWorks user (BibleWindows before
that) but have no experience of PDAs at all, and see little use for them
other than this one specialized function. I had a little Franklin
gadget some years ago with the KJV in it; if that had Greek and Hebrew
I'd be all set.
Thanks!
Susan Jeffers
