Rob.- Plummer (1Cor ICC) argue that EGW is reqired here to 'ballance'

That is a good point. However, I am not sure it totally eliminates my
notion of pragmatic marking. Keeping in mind Paul's preoccupation with
his authority and his direct encounter with the risen CRISTWi, I have
a difficult time discounting significance of EGW hanging out there on
the left margin. This amounts to a sort of probability argument.
