'long-faced' appeals to me and seems well fit in the context. I
thought it is a common expression. However, when I checked on English
dictionary (OED), only meaning of 'having long face' (mine is its
example) is there. Curiously there is nothing about this idiomatic
usage. I have not yet to check in Oxford Idiom/Phrase dictionary.
