Err Mitchell:
You're asking _me_ why _you_ haven't heard of him?
A range of answers: How about "You just don't read enough?" ;-)
Just kidding.
I wouldn't recognise William Larkin from Philip Larkin.
But then I haven't heard of Hoehner either apart from the guitar maker of similar name. I'm just getting started in this stuff.
[And the vexations concerning who is/is not a "noted scholar" was emphatically and rightly banished from the list recently...]
I guess we shall see shall we not, when the great day comes.
I can say from the two volumes already published: I own both and consider it money well spent!
Best rgds

I feel like I've read a lot of works out there and his name just doesn't register with me. Are you familiar with Dr. Larkin? What would be your expectations for his work? I assume he is not in the same league as Hoehner, right?
