Marilyn,

First, you need to be sure that your email client (browser) is set to send and receive UTF-8.  Then you need a font which will display polytonic Greek, not modern Greek.  There are a number of fonts which are freely available which will do this:

Gentium -- a font which is favored by many available from SIL.  Here is a link to the description page which has a link to download it.
http://sil.org/computing/catalog/show_software.asp?id=83

Cardo -- a privately developed font which is useful and also free http://scholarsfonts.net/cardofnt.html

Titus Cyberbit Basic -- requires registration, but free http://titus.fkidg1.uni-frankfurt.de/unicode/tituut.asp

SBL Greek -- from the Society of Biblical Literature http://sbl-site.org/educational/BiblicalFonts_SBLGreek.aspx

My favorite is KadmosU from the Amercan Philological Society, but I have been having trouble finding a site you could use to download it.  It came with my Logos Original Languages Library.

You will also need a keyboard to enter the characters.  I use the free keyboards from Logos which you can also download.  They come with a PDF file telling you how to install them in Windows.  One problem I have had with them is that they work in all programs in Windows Xp, but they only work in Logos on my Windows Vista machine.

Another popular keyboard is Tevultesoft Keyman.  I'm not sure, but they may charge for this.  http://www.tavultesoft.com/70/download.php

Subject: [B-Greek] Sending messages in Greek font

Would someone please write to me privately and tell me what I need to do
to be able to post to B-Greek with the Greek font I see here?  I have a
Greek font that is available with my Thunderbird mailer, but I'm not
sure it is the same, and I can't find the breathing marks or accents.

Thanks,

Marilyn Phemister
