Thank you Randall,

I've taught Business English for three years and what you have to say about
the importance of intonation is spot on. According to the "Lexical
Approach," language is learned and used in "chunks," so that a key element
in language teaching should be teaching students how to effectively chunk
language. Apart from collocations, idioms, lexical phrases etc., intonation
provides an important was of organizing and storing phrases (Lewis has a
good book on this, "The Lexical Approach").

At the moment I'm using the audio recordings by John Simon, trying to hear
the patterns and repeat them. I really regret not having taken this
seriously at the beginning of my course!

Phil Sumpter.
