2COR. 10:1 AUTOS DE EGW PAULOS PARAKALW hUMAS DIA THS PRAUTHTOS KAI
EPIEIKEIAS TOU CRISTOU, hOS KATA PROSWPON MEN TAPEINOS EN hUMIN, APWN
DE QARRW EIS hUMAS·
The contrast between drawn between the MEN (constituent) and the DE
(constituent) seems to be enhanced by the switch between EN hUMIN and
EIS hUMAS. The former EN hUMIN, if it is read as local "among you",
doesn't necessarily imply any sort of action much less aggression, a
passive state and the later EIS hUMAS "towards you" combined with
QARRW implies a goal oriented activity directed toward his addressees
in Corinth and seems to carry with it an implication of aggression
directed toward the recipients.
Perhaps this is so obvious it doesn't warrant comment. The older
English versions do a fair job indicating this contrast. M.J. Harris
(2005) has a brief comment on it.
