I just took a year to read the NT at 2 pages a day. But you could try Philogelos, The Laugher Addict. If you have web access through your school to TLG. It is a book of bawdy, but simple one liners and short jokes. There is even an ebook modern translation so you can see whether or not you are getting the joke. Here's one:
Δυσκόλῳ ἰατρῷ προσελθών τις εἶπε· Σοφιστά, ἀνα-
κεῖσθαι οὐ δύναμαι οὔτε ἑστάναι, ἀλλ' οὐδὲ καθῆσθαι. καὶ ὁ
ἰατρὸς εἶπεν· Οὐδέν σοι λείπει ἢ κρεμασθῆναι.
DUSKOLWi IATRWi PROSELQWN TIS EIPE; SOFISTA ANA-
KEISQAI OU DUNAMAI OUTE hESTANAI, ALL' OUDE KAQHSQAI. KAI
hO IATROS EIPEN; OUDEN SOI LEIPEI H KREMASQHNAI.
A man went to a busy [peevish, difficult] doctor and said, "Brilliant sir [lit. Sophist]
I cannot recline [for dinner] neither can I stand, nor can I sit. So the
doctor told him "There is nothing left but for you to be hung."
Philogelos sive Facetiae (sub auctoribus Hierocle et Philagrio), ed. A. Thierfelder, Philogelos der Lachfreund von Hierokles und Philagrios. Munich: Heimeran, 1968: 28-126.

Subject: [B-Greek] light reading?
In a few weeks (or couple of months, depending on how much time I
find) I will be finishing my self-study through Machen. I'm very
excited by the fact that I can gain a bit of traction when reading
Greek texts now. But I don't want to stop here. My plan going
forward is twofold. First, I plan to work through a second year text
(haven't decided which one) for a formal study of syntax and other
word forms that I haven't learned in Machen. Second, I would like to
do a lot of reading. This, I feel, will help me progress towards
fluency best. However, it is frustrating, and probably counter
productive, to read stuff that is just too far above my head.
So I am now looking for some "lite reading" material in Koine.
Preferably non-GNT. I'm looking for stuff that is "lite" in both
content and Koine grammar/structure. Does anyone on this list know of
any books (preferred) or online resources with this type of reading
material? All suggestions and recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks.
