Hello,

Proverbs 28:4, LXX:
hOUTWS hOI EGKATALEIPONTES TON NOMON EGKWMIAZOUSIN ASEBEIAN,
hOI DE AGAPWNTES TON NOMON PERIBALLOUSIN hEAUTOIS TEICOS

more literal English:
So the ones leaving the law behind praise the wicked,
but the ones loving the law throw them over the wall.

smoother English:
So those who disregard the law praise the wicked,
but those who love the law combat them.

(PERIBALLOUSIN hEAUTOIS TEICOS may or may not be a good translation of the Hebrew for this passage in the first place; I don't know Hebrew. Anyone who wishes to comment on the Hebrew, please do so off-list.)

My questions:

1. Do either of these English renderings provide a fair illustration of PERIBALLOUSIN hEAUTOIS TEICOS?

2. Can PERIBALLOUSIN hEAUTOIS TEICOS be understood as a colorful expression expressing "passionate struggle"? I could surmise as much, but my conclusion would be biased by English idioms.

Thank you!
