<Well, I don't think it's quite as if Hebrew
and Aramaic were two dialects of the same
language.Wouldn't they be more like Latin
and French or Latin and Romanian?>

This is getting way off the topic, but that's
never stopped us before.  I don't know if there
is more difference between the Greek of Homer
and the Greek of Paul than there is between
the Hebrew of Genesis and the Aramaic of
the Jerusalem Talmud, because I don't read
Aramaic, but I think there is.  There are
plenty of people on this list who can answer
that question.  A language is a dialect with
an army and a navy and I think Solomon had
one, the Galileans did not.  I don't know about
the Romanians.
