A fairly literal translation of the Greek text in Matt 13:17 would be:

"For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men have desired to
see (IDEIN) the things that you see (BLEPETE) and they did not see (OUK
EIDAN), and to hear (AKOUSAI) the things that you hear (AKOUETE) and they
did not hear (OUK HKOUSAN)."
