Greetings,
I was thinking about a pre-Easter sermon and looking at the release of Barabbas by Pilate.
I was wondering about the meaning of Barabbas. One dictionary has the meaning as "son of a father." It struck me that it might suggest one who is illegitimate. I was thinking of the contrast between Barabbas (who's your daddy?) and Jesus (the Christ, the son of David).
Is there any possiblity to this meaning or am I just seeing it through smoke and mirrors?
Thanks,
Ron Macy
