My apologies to the list. Apart from the question of whether
καθαρίζων is the earliest text of Mark, the issue has been
raised about the grammatical connection or function of
καθαρίζων/ον (Jesus' words, Evangelists words?), of τὰ
βρώματα (food or filth?). I guess I am raising the issue of
πάντα τὰ βρώματα (all food of any kind [kosher/non
kosher], all food being talked about in the immediate context [defiled-
by-unwashed hands], all filth expelled from the body?). These are
interesting questions about the Greek text, but I am now quite unsure
what is meant by immediate context, especially if at issue is who said
what to whom?
