Sorry for the formatting problem. I'm sending this message again.

B-Greekers,

Ignatius' letter the Romans ends with this greeting (10:3):

Ἔγραψα δὲ ὑμῖν ταῦτα τῇ πρὸ ἐννέα καλανδῶν Σεπτεμβρίων. Ἔρρωσθε εἰς τέλος ἐν ὑπομονῇ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ. EGRAYA DE hUMIN TAUTA THi PRO ENNEA KALANDWN SEPTEMBRIWN.ERRWSQE EIS TELOS EN hUPOMONHi IHHSOU CRISTOU.

Question: Realizing that several different calenders existed throughout the Greco-Roman world at different times, can anyone tell me what the other months of the year would have been for Ignatius and, I assume, for the Roman empire in Palestine and / or Asia Minor during the first century?

Modern Greek has σεπτεμβριος, SEPTEMBRIOS, and the other months of the year are close to other European languages (Ἰανουάριος, φεβρουάριος, IANOUARIOS, FEBROUARIOS, etc.). Was this system already in place more or less as is during the First Century c.e.?

I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks.
