[B-Greek] Greek Commentaries (Off-list)

Elizabeth,

Mark Goodacre on the NTGateway is redoing his site. I suggested to him that he put the best list of Commentaries for the Greek student up on the Greek page. He said though that he would think about it, but he usually only lists for-free resources. Hence my search for a Greek commentary list. It is exactly your kind of comments that are needed to help one find the way through the thicket.

I seldom buy a book unless I see it - especially a commentary because the quality and content of each author varies so much - even of the same series. To me a good commentary not only gives a comprehensive overview, but has to deal with linguistics, Greek idioms, etc. CDF Moule's on Mark was great. Mounce in his graded reader lists a commentary for each passage read, but I do not know if the 'listed' commentary is good for only that passage or en toto. If you have any further comments about other commentaries, it would be great to hear what they are. I think Iver Larsons'(sp?) comments would also be very valuable as he comes from a different perspective than most.

Thanks again,
Louis S
