Matthew 3:17
ουτος εστιν ο υιος μου ο αγαπητος εν ω
ευδοκησα
hOUTOS ESTIN hO hUIOS MOU hO AGAPHTOTOS EN hW EUDOKHSA
why doesn't it say
hOUTOS ESTIN TON hUION MOU TON AGAPHTOTON EN hW EUDOKHSA
As it is there is no predicate in this sentence, or that the predicate
is an adverbial phrase.
It is as if it should be translated:
"This Son of-mine the dear-one is with whom I-am-pleased"
I have seen ESTIN used with accusative nouns before, so what is the
deal here?
Thanks.
