Those don't seem to be quite the same thing. I don't find it unusual to have a prepositional phrase in between an article and its participle or noun. The thing I find unusual is to have this construction half within another of the same costruction, and with the same sort of construction within the halfway construction. That probably sounds confusing, but it is because that's what we have here. We have the main article separated from its substantival participle hOI . . . TETAGMENOI .

Then we have the article for TACIN within hOI . . . TETAGMENOI, but TACIN is outside of hOI . . . TETAGMENOI. Still further, within hOI . . . TETAGMENOI we have the prepositional phrase PARA TWi ONTI QEWi , which comes between both hOI . . . TETAGMENOI and THN . . . TACIN.

Makes me think of Ezekiel's wheels within wheels!
