[B-Greek] Ten Best Books for Studying New Testament Greek: ATRobertson

I simply take them down to the cellar -- like Dorothy's aunt and uncle in The
Wizar of Oz. You see, they not only weigh considerably less, they take up less
space. I don't need a large library with shelves to house them. I also save on
moving since I can use a smaller truck. Then there's the question of "throwing
my back out" -- it doesn't happen with electronic media. The only disadvantage
I can see is that it isn't easy to read them in bed.

Yes, even the hard drive on which it is stored together with approx 2,000
other works as well as non-biblical materials weighs considerably less than
that one volume.

Robertson
I attempted to read through him at one point. I got through about 500 pages.
It was an incredible learning experience. And as a result, he has become my
of my main go-to grammars. The digital version is definitely lighter and
easier to search for specific discussions though.

I think part of the problem with Robertson which inclines one to somewhat
ignore
it is not only its age but also that it is monumental. This is, however,
also one of its strengths. Though no one else covers a topic, Robertson
probably does. I find it quite useful on many occassions even though I
sometimes grow impatient with its length.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
This is an interesting list. I own 50% of the Black-listed volumes.
Included in my collection is A.T. Robertson's substantial tome.
I must confess it has sat sadly idle most of the time of its existence in my
possession, and Black himself seems to have some reservations about it. That
it
is a momentous work does not appear to be in question.
But in my labours and studying, I rarely [if ever] recourse to it.
So I'm curious: Is it momentous because it is momentous? Who finds it useful
and
to what purposes?
I think it was Mr. FWS who mentioned Trenchard and Mounce's Morphology. Far
more
used than Mounce's BBG once one has advanced past the first stage. Smyth is
excellent but needs reformatting. One useful addition to Trenchard's lists
would
be [where practicable] indications [TINOS, TINI etc.] after verbs indicating
the
case of their objects...
