Hi all,
I have been translating Philippians 2 for Greek at college and I noticed
the κενοδοξίαν (KENODOXIAΝ) - ἐκένωσεν(EKENWSEN) word play going on in
chapter 2. I seem to have the spiritual gift of finding things that aren't
there. So, I wanted to ask whether the εἰς (EIS) in Phil 2:11 could be
understood directionally. In other words, Jesus will be praised - not just
for glory of the Father, but to the "point" at which His glory is equal to
the Father's. It's difficult to explain what I'm thinking but basically;
could is the εἰς (EIS) were understood "directionally" then it would
parallel the κενοδοξίαν (KENODOXIAΝ).
Phil 2:11
KAI PASA GLWSSA EXOMOLOGHSETAI hOTI KURIOS IHSOUS CRISTOS EIS DOXAN QEOU

καὶ πᾶσα γλῶσσα ἐξομολογήσεται ὅτι κύριος Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς εἰς δόξαν θεοῦ
πατρός.
Thanks,
James
