[B-Greek] Jesus of Nazareth (Movie) in Greek?

I think this is a great idea, and I'm in for Jesus of Nazareth or a similar
film.

You've got copy right issues, although I suspect that some of the more
mission-orientated films would gladly allow the effort.

As far as PROFORAI, I agree with Vacile to let the participants choose their
own; mixed dialects would make the product more interesting and more accesssible
to a wider audience.

The tech issues would be tricky, but more possible now than just a few years
ago.

Subject: [B-Greek] Jesus of Nazareth (Movie) in Greek?

Hello all,

After watching the movie "Lord of the Rings" and also "Jesus of Nazareth", I
think that it would be a very
positive and rewarding project to try to make audio, text of the audio, and text
of the actions of one of these
movies in ancient Greek.

I think one of the best video projects would be to create such a resource for
the movie Jesus of Nazareth.

This was/is a movie/miniseries about the life and death of Christs. You can read
an article on Wikipedia at

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_of_Nazareth_%28miniseries%29 . Any other
movies about Jesus would
also be an option for such a project. Another movie / movie series under
consideration would be C.S. Lewis'
The Chronicles of Narnia, but even moreso, the series by J.R. Tolkien, The Lord
of the Rings.

What would need to be created is 1) the text and 2) the audio (in a consistent
dialect) of the script, and 3)
captions/subtitles of the actions which occur side-by-side with the audio of the
movie. This is a project which
I think can be accomplished in a year or two. The first book of Harry Potter has
been translated into Attic.

It has received good reviews. There are many more students of New Testament
Greek than there are of Attic.
Many students of New Testament Greek would view such a video over and over
again.  Many voices would

be required to create such an audio, along with a subscript text of the action.

Those who would want to participate in such a year/two year endeavor must be
able to do one of two things:
1) Read Greek aloud with emotion and an accent/dialect amenable to all (perhaps
Randall Buth's Restored
Koine) and/or 2) have the technical ability (advanced Greek skills) of being
able to write captions and

transcribe the script of one of the movies in the common Koine dialect.

Perhaps we could start such a project a year from now, once people are lined up.
What do  you think? It

would probably take a year or two to finish.
