[B-Greek] Grammar-translation

I am one of those self-learners who used Mounce to learn Greek. Or, I should
probably say to learn to read the New Testament in Greek. I don't have a
Bachelor's Degree to get into Seminary, and with a family and a job it will
likely take 6 years or so to get there, so I am using the tools available to
me now so I can take advantage of my youthful brain while it lasts! I have
developed the reading comprehension and vocabulary to read through the
entire NT without helps, but I couldn't formulate a sentence - whether
verbally or through pen and paper - if my life truly depended on it. I could
certainly translate without that ability, and get by in exegesis, but could
I call myself fluent? And, could I really claim to understand the language
without the ability to use it myself to communicate?
I am somewhat familiar with Randal Bluth's Living Koine materials, but have
so far shied away due to the price tag, as well as perhaps a bit of
skepticism that they can deliver what they promise (no offense intended
Randal! I just haven't heard much in the way of endorsement - perhaps that
is simply because they are too far outside of the comfortable traditions of
academia?) Can anyone shed some light on what the options are for developing
English-to-Greek capabilities?
Thanks and God bless,
Refe
