Hello all,
I'm trying to get a handle on Roman/Jewish currencies. The Prutah was a Hebrew coin which apparently corresponded to the Roman Quandrans (1/64 of a denarius) corresponding to the Greek κορδάντης KORDANTHS. Are there any direct references to a Prutah in any Greek literature (Herod minted them - apparently the only coins Herod and others were permitted to mint were those of the bronze/brass variety? Somewhere I found its equivalent value as 2 LEPTON λέπτον.
